Childcare

We are always in search of enthusiastic volunteers to support the littlest members of our community while their parents attend appointments, classes, look for employment, or tend to other needs. If you have experience looking after children, please consider becoming a volunteer babysitter.

Gardening & Yardwork

If getting outside is more your thing, our vegetable gardens are growing by leaps and bounds in an attempt to eradicate food insecurity for our clients. And, we need occasional help with yard work. Seasonal opportunities (March-October) exist to work in the gardens.

Mentors

Mentors play unique roles in the lives of KCHC clients. Some provide basic social support for clients who may have limited personal relationships in the community. Others provide more specialized support related to a specific skillset or interest. Our hope is that mentors become role models and provide much needed peer support for adult and youth clients. Additional volunteer training required to participate in this program.

Movers

We are in the business of finding people homes. Part of that process includes moving folks into their new apartments, as well as transporting furniture donated from the community to and from our Rockport campus. If you have a truck or van, we would love to add you to our list of potential movers.

Administrative Support

No less important is keeping track of all the information that keep the Knox County Homeless Coalition engine running and servicing the hundreds of individuals, families, and youth that seek our services. Opportunities exist in the office and remotely and can include data entry, research projects, sorting and filing, helping with mailings and appeals, and writing thank you notes.
