Knox County Homeless Coalition, Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, and AIO Food and Energy Assistance are teaming up for a fun event that combines their core strengths of building, housing, and feeding and educates the community on housing and food insecurity and what these organizations do to collaborate and address the needs of our community.

The Gingerbread House Bake Off is open to all, with three categories: Professional, Amateur, and Youth. A winner in each category will be selected by the Executive Directors of the host organizations, and a People’s Choice winner will be selected by public vote. The event will take place in the conference room of 16 Bay View Hotel in Camden during Christmas by the Sea.

The public is invited to view the gingerbread houses on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2 from Noon to 7pm. Viewers will vote for the People’s Choice winner on Friday and all winners will be announced Saturday at 1 p.m.

Contestants will drop off their creations on Thursday, November 30 from 1-4 pm, and retrieve them on Saturday, December 2 from 7-8 pm.

The Gingerbread House Bake Off is a gentle, family-friendly introduction to very tough community issues, engaging the public with our lifesaving work to address ever-present community needs while dispelling misconceptions about homelessness, affordable housing and food insecurity.
